WOME Standards Register

The current editions of the ammunition and explosives standards most often cited, what they superseded, and what to stop citing.

Revision 1.0 · Published 20 September 2026 · Entries verified against the promulgating authorities on 5 August 2026 · Next review due December 2026 · Maintained by Steven Sawyers MIExpE VR

One-page brief.

  1. The NATO ammunition storage standard changed edition on 4 November 2025. Cite AASTP-01 Edition D Version 1; Edition C is superseded.
  2. STANAG 4107, the government quality assurance agreement behind AQAP-2110, is at Edition 14 (4 June 2025). Records showing Edition 9 are about fifteen years out of date.
  3. The UK DSA 03.OME Part 1 codes are all at version 2.0, February 2026, whatever the gov.uk page date says.
  4. UK adoption of NATO quantity distance tables (Project COWLEY) becomes mandatory on 1 January 2028. The notice names no AASTP-1 edition; that is unresolved.
  5. Commercial standards aggregators still present superseded editions as current. Cite the promulgating authority, not the seller.

What this register is

A status register of the open-source weapons, ordnance, munitions and explosives (WOME) publications that safety case authors, ammunition technical officers, quality managers and procurement specialists cite most often. Each entry records the current edition, its date and what it supersedes. It is the reference edition list used in SGS assessments and courses.

Method

NATO editions and promulgation status come from the NATO Standardization Office document database. Where it does not expose a date, the date is taken from a national standards body or authorised distributor and cross-checked. United States entries come from DENIX, Air Force e-Publishing and the DLA ASSIST register; United Kingdom entries from the Defence Safety Authority collections on gov.uk. Aggregators are used to corroborate dates only, never to establish an edition. Sources are graded under STANAG 2022; see the source evaluation card.
