Our Mission

Sawyers Global Solutions Limited exists to solve the WOME competence gap created by NATO’s reduction in Ammunition Technician training capacity. We provide tailored functional competence training, procurement assessment, and strategic consultancy to defence organisations.

Our purpose is simple: ensure organisations understand the WOME discipline, meet ISO 9001:2015 Clause 7.2 requirements, and procure defence equipment with technical authority and confidence.

Incorporated in November 2024 and trading from April 2025, SGS was founded by Steven Sawyers MIExpE VR and draws on more than 25 years in Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives, spanning Army ammunition technical duties, munitions management, explosive safety assurance, sea-going naval logistics and NATO procurement.

Senior Ammunition Technician, NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA)

Luxembourg. Developed Statements of Work and coordinated Requests for Proposals for multinational ammunition supply under Direct Commercial Sales. Conducted technical evaluation of bids, supported Contract Award Committees, monitored contractor performance against technical and quality assurance standards, and closed out Discrepancy Reports. Prepared Support Partnership documentation and briefed the Ammunition Support Partnership Committee.

Ammunition Technician, NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA)

Capellen, Luxembourg. Ammunition supply support specialist carrying the full range of technical, procurement and contract support responsibilities later performed at senior level.

Jan 2013 – Mar 2017

Supply & Transport Officer (Naval), Commander RN – RFA Fort Victoria and RFA Fort Austin

Sea-going appointment carrying full responsibility for supply, transport, ammunition, dangerous cargo and naval stores afloat, under the Royal Navy BR regulatory framework and JSP instructions. Ammunition receipt, stowage, accounting and issue at sea; hazardous cargo management under BR, SOLAS, ADR/RID and the IMDG Code. Operational logistics support to OP KIPION and to Combined Task Forces 151, 152 and 153.

Mar 2011 – Dec 2012

Explosives Safety Assurance Manager, HM Naval Base Clyde

Regulatory-level accountability for explosive safety assurance across all WOME activity at the United Kingdom’s submarine operating base, under the DSA 03.OME framework. Designated Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person for explosive safety assurance. Safety case development and review, explosive incident investigation, audit and inspection across base activities and supply chain interfaces, and engagement with DSA, DE&S and the submarine operating authorities.

Operations Manager, Defence Munitions Longtown

Combined management of General Munitions Production, Explosive Storage and the Munitions Account, covering 100 staff. Head of Establishment duties as required and Gold or Silver Commander during Major Accident Control Regulations incidents and exercises. Panel member for the implementation of the WOME National Occupational Standards functional competence framework into Defence Munitions.

Aug 2007 – Aug 2009

Production Manager, Defence Munitions Longtown

Through-life maintenance and depot production support in compliance with JSP 762 and JSP 482 explosives regulations, managed by Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel against Explosives Substances and Articles National Occupational Standards. The department processed 48 per cent of the total explosive tasking across the Explosive Business Stream and was recognised by the MACR Assurance Team and TLB Inspectors of Explosives as best practice for DSA 02.OME Part 4 compliance.

Sep 2005 – Aug 2007

Control & Accounts Manager, Defence Munitions Longtown

Rebuilt the Northern AMANDA hub serving four northern depots, reinstating the depot technical cell for data assurance and account accuracy. Inventory management of the northern United Kingdom munitions stockpile, including verification checks against stocktaking results.

Jan 2000 – Dec 2005

Staff Sergeant Ammunition Technician and Military Training Instructor, Royal Logistic Corps

British Army. Ammunition technical duties in the United Kingdom, Germany, Kosovo and Iraq, including operational deployment to southern Iraq with Joint Force EOD on OP TELIC: explosive ordnance disposal, improvised explosive device defeat, technical exploitation and ammunition technical investigation in a high-threat environment. Concurrently served as a Military Training Instructor at 5 Training Regiment RLC, Grantham, delivering skill at arms, fieldcraft and map reading instruction as a qualified Range Management and SAT custodian.
